Kent County, MD home with bowing walls in the basement
Challenge
Correcting a bowing wall is always a challenge. If we had tried to pull the wall back too quickly, we could done some substantial damage. Fixing a cracked basement wall with GeoLock wall anchors is a careful and deliberate process. This home in Chestertown had a basement wall with large cracks and a significant bowing. Several options for repair were discussed with the homeowner and the GeoLock system was found to be the best choice.
Solution
Several wall anchors were used on this project. Spacing was around three feet apart due to the severity of the cracks. Luckily, the home had a nice yard to accommodate the earth anchor side of the system. The anchors were carefully tightened and some of the curve was straightened out on the last day of the installation. With an annual maintenance agreement and steady monitoring and adjustment, the homeowner is looking forward to getting the wall very close to perfectly straight in the future.
