Filthy crawl space in Sussex County
Hanging insulation and open dirty floors in the crawl space are nasty to look at but also very harmful to the whole house. The insulation is a sign of high humidity and the open dirt floors is a major source of the humidity. High humidity brings mold and mildew.
Pools of standing water
If wet dirt brings high humidity, standing puddles brings high humidity even faster.
Cleaning out the crawl space
It is sometimes hard to imagine the amount of debris in the crawl space when it is all spread out. This is a pile of trash bags showing just how much junk DryZone took out before installing the CleanSpace system.
Hard at work
Rodney is hard at work installing CleanSpace, drainage matting, and crawl space wall insulation. These products work well together to keep the crawl space at a moderate temperature all year. It won't get too hot or too cold after everything is installed.
Sump pump installation
A crawl space sump pump is a great way to keep the ground water from becoming a problem. It works even better when coupled with a perimeter drainage system.
Drainage matting
Drainage matting is a layer of semi-rigid plastic that helps to raise the CleanSpace vapor barrier just slightly off the ground. It provides a nice cushion for those crawling on it as well as aids to direct water under the liner so it doesn't pool up.
Wrapping obstacles
Most crawl spaces have piers, interior support walls, or other obstacles. DryZone has always made it a policy to wrap these things tightly to avoid breaks in the CleanSpace system. It insures that all the seams and corners aren't going to leak moisture.
Leaving a space atop the liner
DryZone has always believed in leaving a small space above the top edge of the CleanSpace liner. This is done so that a termite inspector can still check for trails. It also avoids needing to destroy the liner if a need to treat for termites ever comes up.
