SaniDry CX air system (dehumidifier) with a condensate pump
The best way to dry the air in a crawlspace is with a strong machine. A small "household" dehumidifier just isn't made to handle the open spaces under a house. Our SaniDry CX is perfect for the wide open areas in a crawlspace. It will dry the air AND remove almost all the mold spores to create a nice clean and dry environment. Allergy symptoms usually fade and everyone feels better.
Air handler under the home
When your HVAC (heater and air conditioner) is located under the house, it is open to rust and mold. Those ducts are leaky so they will suck it the air from inside the crawlspace. Even the wood framing that holds the unit in place can mold and rot. All of this could have been avoided by getting the CleanSpace system earlier. But at least it won't get any worse.
Hard metal air ducts
Even the hard metal air ducts are open to damage. When the humidity in the crawlspace gets really high it causes condensation on the ducts. See those white spots on the bottom of the ducts? Those are stain from drops of water. They can easily lead to rust, but the biggest issue is that its a sign of energy loss. The cool air going through those ducts meets the hotter, humid air in the crawlspace and then the air wants to "even out." That means that the air in your house isn't as cool as you'd like, and you turn the dial up...MONEY WASTED! $$$
Full CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation
When the vapor barrier goes up the crawl space walls, it prevents the dirty and must air from getting into the crawl space. This helps to keep the humidity low and reduces the smells that come from mold and wood rot.
Sealing the crawlspace doorway
Even little touches that could easily be overlooked are important to the entire system. The opening to the crawlspace is the easiest place for air leakage. DryZone seals the liner around these openings to prevent small leaks in the liner.
