Turtl crawlspace entry system

Challenge

This challenge in this case was just getting into the crawlspace in the first place. The old metal shroud was tight to the house and like most houses, anyone trying to enter the crawlspace has to contort their body to get in. Another complaint that this homeowner had was that the area around the door would fill up in rain storms, causing it to be filled with wet leaves and mud. She was worried that the water would get into her crawlspace this way, as well.

Solution

The best solution to all of these concerns is the Turtl crawlspace entry system. It solves the size issue because it is almost a perfect 3 foot cube. This is a huge difference to the average "half moon" entrance on most homes. The ground water and possible leaks into the crawlspace are no longer a concern thanks to the one piece construction. It is technically more than one piece because the lid is separate but interlocks into the body during installation. The body, however, is all one piece so there is no way for water to come in from underneath.

One quick note for anyone who has a Turtl...be sure that you wipe off the top before opening the lid. The #1 call that DryZone's service department gets in regards to the Turtl is that water has gotten into it. When the service tech arrives to check for a leak, he discovers that the water sitting on the lid dumps into the body when the homeowner lifts the lid. This is easily avoided by wiping the water off the lid first.
