Salisbury, MD home takes care of a long standing water issue in the basement
Challenge
There were several challenges with this Wicomico County home. The old sump pump was not working very well anymore, so that was the homeowner's primary concern. The next issue was the placement of the water heater and sump pump. Putting a perimeter drainage system in the basement will direct the water to the new sump pump, but the water heater was in the way. Lastly, the power to the home would always go out at the most inconvenient times. The homeowner told his inspector that he needed some way to make sure the sump pump worked during a heavy rain storm which is when his power goes out.
Solution
Fixing these water problems took a few stages. First, DryZone was able to install a great SuperSump system to get the water up and out of the basement. Rather than moving the water heater, the homeowner and the designer decided to use an innovative solution to direct any water coming in through the basement walls into the perimeter drainage system. This also acts as a way to stop a water heater leak from ruining the basement, any leaks will flow into the sump pump as well. The last problem was an easy fix. An UltraSump is DryZone's battery back up sump pump. It has a nice, long life battery that will power your sump pump when the power to house goes out. It will also work for simple things like an electric breaker popping.
