Old Crawl Space Door
This door has seen better days. Before even entering the crawl space there are signs of moisture.
At first look...
When you first look into the crawl space you expect it to be dirty - its under the house... But with clean space that doesn't have to be the case.
Humidity Reading
Our System Design Specialist always make sure to take a reading outside of the home so that there is a point of reference when we are taking readings inside the home.
Standing Water
When you enter the crawl space, any standing water is never a good sign.
Wood Readings
This gives us a reading of the wood. It looks at moisture levels.
Insulation Readings
We take readings of the insulation because many times the insulation is absorbing the moisture from the air.
Floor Joists
High Moisture levels can cause wood rot from mold. We always check the floor joists to make sure they are intact.
High Moisture and Mold
You can see the mold on the wood and on the fiber glass insulation.
More Standing Water
The vapor barrier is thin and is exposing the dirt, this isn't protecting the crawl space from moisture evaporating into the crawl space
Humidity Readings In the Crawl Space
The humidity level is much higher then it was outside. At 60% it is perfect levels for mold to thrive.
Sings of Mold
Because of the high humidity this home is showing signs of mold.
More Mold
Mold is a scary thing to think about having in your home. But it is something that can easily be taken care of.
Mold and Your Home
Just because it is under your home doesn't mean that it doesn't effect this inside of you home. Mold can cause problems with those asthma and allergies and case wood rot. This can cause structural issues with your home. It is best to catch it quickly so that you don't need to fix those structural issues
Wood Reading
When we take a reading next to the wood we can clearly see that there is a lot more moisture in the wood.
Clean Space
The first step to help this homeowner was to create a clean environment and to put down a better vapor barrier.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
This is 20mil liner that will help protect your crawl space from moisture that comes from the earth.
Installing CleanSpace
We want to make sure that your crawl space is totally protected that is why we also wrap pilings and walls.
Clean and Dry
This is now a crawl space that the homeowner wants to venture down to, and gives other contractors like plumbers and electricians will appreciate.
No more standing water.
Water can now be directed into the sump pump under the lining through the drainage matting that is under the CleanSpace.
Insulation
You might be wondering were the insulation is. Well it is no longer on the floor of the home and is located on the wall. Our SilverGlo insulation is under the CleanSpace and won't be a breeding ground for mold because it isn't made of organic material. Now the crawl space will remain about the same temperature as upstairs because we have blocked the vents and doors. We don't even have to heat or cool the space. It stays comfortable all year round!!!
Duct Work is Safe
When the crawl space is encapsulated you don't have to worry about cool air coming in from the vents it won't cool down the warm air in your ducts. Making sure that your home is energy efficient.
New Dehumidifier and Sump Pump
After encapsulating the space adding a dehumidifier will insure that there is no moisture in air. This will create an environment that mold cannot grow in. This keeps the home safe and healthy.
Overlast Door
The EverLast Door is icing on the cake for this homeowner, it replaces the old rusted door and will keep the space air tight and clean.
