Large noticeable crack in the basement wall
There was a large crack in this basement wall about chest high for the homeowner. He saw it just about every day while using his workbench or getting something from the basement freezer. After meeting one of our promoters at the home show in Wilmington, he decided it was time to fix the crack.
Digging the hole for an earth anchor plate
Sometimes the holes must be dug by hand for the earth anchor plates because they will be close to sewer, electric, or other utility lines. It looked like this hole was dug using our mini excavator with the auger attachment. DryZone calls ahead to give the utility companies time to mark the lines. Once we dig in the right places, the rods for each wall anchor are pushed from the basement out to one of these holes in the yard. Then an earth anchor is attached.
Earth anchor plate installation
Here you can see the earth anchor side being installed. It is a big, reinforced plate that grabs a large area of ground to support the bowing wall. It is tightened and the hole is filled in. Most times the hole is barely noticeable afterwards. The DryZone crew takes care to lay plywood or a tarp down to avoid making an awful mess of your yard.
Tight spaces are not a problem for wall anchors
One of the nice things about GeoLock Wall Anchors is that they can be placed in a cramped spot. After measuring out the wall and marking the placement of the anchors, the homeowner learned that he lucked out and wouldn't have to move his freezer. Each plate is designed to be as narrow as possible to still grip the maximum amount of wall. This is the goal of DryZone and Foundation Supportworks, highly efficient products for each project.
Wall anchors hug the wall for a slim profile
Unlike other solutions for a bowing wall, the GeoLock Wall Anchors have a slim profile. This makes them ideal for an area with shelves or a workbench. Even better is that if you want to finish your basement to create a living space you can build directly in front of the plates. DryZone even has special covers that can be installed to hide the metal plate and better blend with a finished space.
