2013 Basement Systems Convention
Recently, Team DryZone returned for the annual Basement Systems International Convention. It was certainly an exciting and educational trip filled with classes, awards, and tons of great team building.
In previous years everyone has driven to Connecticut from our office in Delaware. This year the decision was made to take a train and make a real adventure out of it. What a great decision it turned out to be, since no one had to sit behind the wheel for 5-6 hours.
While at the convention our sales, marketing, production, and office staff attended classes for new products and services. Each night there was some sort of team building dinner ranging from fancy restaurants to buffet style finger foods and pool tables. There were even two special guest speakers. Andrew Davis, a marketing genius, dazzled the audience on Thursday afternoon with his highly entertaining approach to social media and advertising. Later that night, after the awards dinner, everyone was glued to their seats while Aron Ralston recounted his heartwarming story of courage and perseverance. Aron is best known as the climber that got his arm pinned under a boulder in the desert for 127 hours.
At that awards dinner DryZone was awarded a few new pieces of hardware for the Wall of Fame. We were happy to win #21 in basement waterproofing, #11 in crawl space encapsulation, and #8 in market saturation. Anywhere in the top 25 is considered fantastic, especially since there are over 350 dealers across the continent and overseas. Market saturation means that, even though the population of our area is lower than large metropolitan areas, we are able to reach most homeowners. The directly relates to how effective we are at getting our message out to people in need.
Convention is four days filled with education, networking, accolades and revelry. People from Oregon to Alberta to Florida and everywhere in between attend to learn, laugh, and grow.
