Off the wall uses for great foundation repair products

I’ve covered the majority of DryZone’s foundation services in one way or another through these blogs. The nice thing is that only a handful of products can fix a multitude of foundation problems. We have covered wall anchors, helical piers, push piers, SmartJacks, and mudjacking to fix your broken walls and sagging floors. What I’d like to do now is tell you about two ways to use these products or services that you might not be familiar with.

Sinking sidewalks

Sinking sidewalk  Ever been walking along a sidewalk and suddenly trip because one of the sidewalk sections has settled more than the others? Not long ago, a homeowner from Cambridge, MD called us with this sort of complaint. He wanted to know if there was a way to fix the sidewalk so that the neighborhood kids wouldn’t trip over it and hurt themselves. Good news for him was that we have done this kind of thing several times before. There are a couple of options; he chose to go with the mudjacking. As you can tell from the photo, this sidewalk had settled over an inch. When our crew went out to fix the problem they were able to raise the small slab back up so that it was no longer a tripping hazard. Mudjacking and/or slab piers are great for this application.

Helical piers on a leaning chimney

Chimney repaired by helical piers  When the chimney starts to lean away from the house, it can become a very dangerous situation. Often time people think that they should just pull in down and rebuild a new one. Not only is that expensive, but its destructive, too. Chances are the chimney is salvageable. Often times it will only take a day to screw a couple helical piers in the ground and support the chimney on solid soils. If you have one of these leaning chimneys, you should check out the helical piers solution. I think you will be happy with the results.

DryZone is the leader in foundation repairs for the Delmarva Peninsula.  If you have anything wrong with the foundation on your home, driveway cracks, broken concrete porch, or any other seemingly off the wall things, you should call for an inspection.
