Crawl Space Sump Pumps: A Great Defense Against Hard Rains
Does your crawl space begin to leak when it rains hard? At DryZone, we have access to proven methods and products that can help divert the water in your crawl space or basement out quickly and effectively.
One of the most important products we suggest to homeowners is investing in a powerful sump pump. At DryZone, we install patented sump pump systems that have been developed by a network of basement waterproofing contractors at Basement Systems®, Inc. These cast-iron sump pumps are the longest-lasting battery backup pumps in the industry.
To install a sump pump, a hole must be dug into the ground that’s about 22” deep. It is then important to install a sump liner in the hole. This prevents the mud from coming in, while also providing a nice housing for the pump.
The SmartSump™ Crawl Space Sump Pump is equipped with features designed for the crawl space, including:
- A sturdy liner made to mate with an airtight lid.
- A floor drain in the lid in case of a plumbing leak.
- A reliable cast-iron pump with mechanical float switch.
- A stand under the pump.
- An alarm to alert you to pump failure or a plumbing leak.
There are a couple of other important elements to a proper sump pump installation:
- A stand for the pump: A CleanPump Stand helps elevate the pump off the bottom of the sump liner. This allows settlement of sediment, mud, debris, or grave that may wash into the liner. It will prevent clogging or otherwise affecting the pump itself.
- Pump Alerts: the pump alerts will verify you of any plumbing leakage or flood in your crawlspace.
-
The SmartSump™ Crawl Space Sump Pump is fully compatible with our complete crawl space vapor barrier system. It has a very unique lid which seemlessly fits the CleanSpace® liner for a snug, airtight seal.
