Great! a crack, now what?

A Delaware homeowner began to notice cracks in the exterior of the gargage in their Newark home, as time went by the crack began to increase in size.  This is a common occurrence for homes in New Castle County, with all of the differences in soils we have, you can get a lot of heaving and shrinking of the ground, if your home sits in those type soils then you can have the same problem in your foundation walls too. So what is a homeowner to do? These folks decided that an engineer was the best place to start, and we agree.  After a short time, the homeowner was given a report on how to fix the broken foundation walls, the engineer believed that three helical piers would fix the problem.  A helical pier is screwed into the ground pneumatically with an excavator and a drive head, which is kind of like a big screwdriver.  The pier itself is a pole with plates on it, which will allow Foundation Supportworks by DryZone to embed these helical piers to competent soil.

Our Production Manager Kenny showed up on the job and had a conversation with the homeowner about the job,  Kenny learned that since the contract was signed, the homowners son has been on a mission to learn as much about helical piers as he can.  every day after school he would rush home to make sure he could see our crews in action.  Kenny loved explaning how the process went and the materials we used.  I have never seen anyone that young be so interested in foundation work, I hope he keeps up his intrest as he grows up, Kenny told the crew.
