That Crawlspace door fell off again!

That old rusty crawlspace door has been a problem since we bought this home.  It rattles every time the wind blows, it is almost rusted out and the handle fell off last spring.  By now most of you know that a sealed crawlspace is how every home on Delaware and Maryland should be done, but one very important key that tends to be missed is the crawlspace door.  Energy cost can soar in your home when the door to the underside of your home wont seal.

When choosing which crawlspace entrance is right for your home, you should keep a few things in mind.  Is the entrance above the ground or is the entrance recessed in to the ground?  This is important mainly because of the entrance is below ground you will need to choose an entrance that is not only air tight but water tight.  Yes the old sheet metal doors we have grown accustom to, do very little in the way of sealing out moisture and water, they do ;however, do a great job of keeping out animals but so would a piece of cardboard!

The Turtl is the best choice when you need to keep your crawlspace dry; it is made of molded plastic, so it will never rot.  It is also water tight to make sure no water will get into your home.  DryZone is the world leading installer of the Turtle crawlspace entry system, and was recognized as such at the Basement Systems 2011 Convention in Hartford CT.
